The Diaconate shares with the Pastor in the oversight of the spiritual life of the Church. It schedules regular services of worship and serves as, or appoints, ushers for worship services. On Communion Sundays, the members of the Diaconate assist in the administration of the Lord's Supper and Baptism. The Diaconate advises the Pastor and the congregation on matters of faith and morals when such become subjects at issue in the Church. It is charged with reaching out to welcome and to invite new members into the Church and has ongoing concern for the nurture, care, and discipline of church members.
