Women’s Fellowship

The Parish Helpers is our  women’s fellowship group.  The first women’s group was organized in 1857.  After several incarnations, the Parish Helpers was incorporated in 1899 and remains a very active, vital group!

We welcome all women of the church and community to join us at our monthly meetings generally held in the Fellowship Hall on the second Thursday of the month at 1 p.m.  Coffee/ tea and dessert are served followed by a brief business meeting and a program.  Some months there is a field trip, potluck luncheon or picnic!

It’s not all play and no work!  The Parish Helpers support the Church and the community with their time and talent.   We operate the  Treasure Shop (located in the Old Town Hall in Wakefield Corner) during the summer months and hold the Village Fair in August.  We provide collations and receptions in our church hall.

With the funds raised through these efforts,  The Parish Helpers contribute to the First Congregational Church with an annual pledge and donations for the Flower, Music, and Camp Funds.   We have purchased new carpeting for the sanctuary and pew cushions. We maintain the Old Town Hall.  Funds are also allocated for scholarships and donations to several local and global charities.

Plan to join us at any of our meetings.  For more information, please call the church office at 522-3189.
