Greetings, Sisters and Brothers in Christ

On the home page of this Web site, you will find a picture of a building. Throughout its other pages, you will find the picture of the church. The church, as many of us believe and profess, is not the building. It is the people of God who gather into community to hear God's Word, to celebrate the sacraments, and to respond to God's call to be Christ's disciples in the struggle for justice and peace. This is accomplished by the people of God, not by temples that help facilitate the work of the faithful. As the Apostle Paul told the Corinthians, "Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it" (1 Cor. 12:27). Throughout this site, you will find information about the activities of the individuals who together form this branch of the church, this limb of Christ's body.

The First Congregational Church of Wakefield, -United Church of Christ, is a loving, nurturing community with a deep faith and a rich heritage. We are proud of this church and invite all of you (both old friends and new) to consider making this your spiritual home—a home where you and your family can grow with us in the Christian faith.
