DESCRIPTION:Racial Justice \nWhat is Racial Justice\, you might ask. Didn’t we already address that with the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950’s and 60’s? Wasn’t that laid to rest with the Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.? What do you mean by “Black Lives Matter” don’t All Lives Matter? Jesus would have said\, “Yes\, all lives do matter”. But He did not reach out to all lives. His Disciples were common laborers and fishermen\, not rulers or religious leaders who held positions of wealth and power. His followers were tax collectors and prostitutes. These were the marginalized people that Jesus knew needed His teachings\, healings\, and love. They were the Black Lives Matter people of the first century. \nChrist “came that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly”\, John 10:10. In our society those who are living abundantly are predominately White. Economic resources\, education\, housing\, medical coverage\, and many other societal opportunities are not always accessible for people of color (POC). Generations upon generations have left POC out of the collective American pie. \nOur Racial Justice Discussion group meets the first Thursday of every month at 4:30 via Zoom (except in January we meet on the 14th). We talk about books\, podcasts\, music\, movies\, news articles and any other resources we encounter concerning Racial Justice. We are learning how to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. Questioning our status in society and opening our eyes to the realities faced by POC can be a little uncomfortable. There isn’t any guilt or blame tossed around\, only awareness and understanding. People join our monthly meetings when time allows. If you can’t make it on the 14th\, I will still send you the zoom link and maybe you can make February’s meeting. DESCRIPTION:A Very Different Lenten Study \nOur Lenten Faith Formation study will begin the first Tuesday in Lent (February 23rd).  This study will focus on a different type of devotional entitled “The Art of Lent” by Sister Wendy Beckett.  During this study we will  look at a wide variety of paintings – ancient and modern\, sacred and secular\, familiar and unfamiliar. DESCRIPTION:Conversation Group was introduced several years ago by our dear sister\, Jan Fairchild\, and was designed for women who were aged 60 and over.  Through guided conversation\, those who attended had the opportunity to get to know each other on a more personal and meaningful level than they had in the past.  There were two groups of 8 – 12 women.  Later age restrictions were lifted\, more participants joined and the two groups became one.  Then Jan moved away ☹ \nMany moons later\, we are now a strong group again.  We recently met twice at the home of Jan Brejwo.  Our last gathering was a group of 12 women\, and we shared our past Christmas experiences with each other.  An interesting conclusion was the question of\, if you had one Christmas to relive\, which would it be?” \nPlease join us.  Our next gathering will be in the Parish Helpers room in the church on Monday\, January 13th at 1 PM.  If anyone has a recommendation for a conversation topic\, please contact either Margie (balchlaker@gmail.com) or Patty Golden (goldenpj@gmail.com)

DESCRIPTION:The music camp children have been invited to join our annual church family Christmas caroling on Saturday\, December 16 from 4-6 p.m.  We have caroling books and Margie will lead the kids and adults in using hand chimes. \nThe plan is to dress warmly\, meet at church before 4 p.m. and prepare to caravan around the Wakefield community bringing love and Christmas cheer to neighbors and friends.  We will return to church around 5:30 to enjoy some pizza\, hot beverages\, and yummy treats. \nLet me know if there is someone we should not miss on our caroling route!

DESCRIPTION:We warmly invite your child(ren)\, ages 5 through 12\, to attend our summer Music Camp at FCCW.  The camp will be held from July 9 through 12\, 2019. Children will gather each morning 9:00 to noon to learn Bible stories through music\, dance\, crafts\, stories\, and games.  Daily snacks will be provided. This program has been a joyful experience for children (and staff) for the past two summers. There is no cost to participate. DESCRIPTION:Dress a Girl Around the World is a Campaign under Hope 4 Women International (a 501 (c) 3 organization) bringing dignity to women around the world since 2006.  Hope 4 Women International is a nondenominational independent Christian organization whose dream is a world where every girl has at least one new dress and knows that they are worthy of respect\, and that they are loved by God. \nWe will be making dresses for the girls in Zimbabwe.  The sew-in will be held on Saturday\, June 1st from 8:30 AM – 2 PM.  Breakfast will be provided at 8AM . We will also be providing soup and chowder lunch. \nPatterns and instructions will be provided that day.\nEach dress will need 1-1/2 yard of quality cotton fabric. No holiday prints or prints with food or Disney prints.\nAvoid whites\, light and solid fabrics as they will not be pretty after 30+ days of continuous wear without washing. NH has the highest rates of breast cancer\, bladder cancer and esophageal cancer in the nation. We will learn what is being done and what we can do to advocate for stronger environmental protections.
