Celebrating 225 years of
Worship!
Welcome!
You have come to the right
place in viewing this website! The First Congregational Church of
Wakefield, United Church of Christ, is a warm and caring congregation
seeking to hear God's call, and to grow in love and care.
Your gifts and talents have an important role in this beautiful world
that God has given us, and this is a church in which your
transformational journey as a disciple of Christ can come to a wonderful
fruition. We invite you to join us for worship experiences that are
nurturing, comforting, creative, and challenging. Our Christian
Education program has something for everyone, from our dynamic and
growing Church School program, opportunities for service and learning
for youth, adult Bible study, and many other activities. Active in
service and learning for youth, adult wider world, we respond to the
invitation of Jesus to serve one another and our local and global
neighbors in a variety of ways. Singing, praying, serving, playing,
cooking, walking to end hunger, traveling to carry out service projects,
visiting those who are sick, sharing in sacramental life: these are just
some of the ways we share in fellowship with God and one another.
Take a look through our website
to learn more about what is going on at our church. If you like what you
see, come and visit on Sunday morning, and experience the warmest
welcome you'll ever have in a church. We hope you'll stick around!
May our loving God bless you on
your life's journey!
In Christ's love,

We believe in
you, O God, Eternal Spirit, God of our Savior Jesus Christ and
our God, and to your deeds we testify: |
You call the worlds into being, create persons in
your own image, and set before each one the ways of life and
death.
You seek in holy love to save all people from
aimlessness and sin.
You judge people and nations by your righteous
will declared through prophets and apostles.
In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our
crucified and risen Savior, you have come to us and shared our
common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world
to yourself.
You bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, creating and
renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant
faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.
You call us into your church to accept the cost
and joy of discipleship, to be your servants in the service of
others, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the
powers of evil, to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his
table, to join him in his passion and victory.
You promise to all who trust you forgiveness of
sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for
justice and peace, your presence in trial and rejoicing, and
eternal life in your realm which has no end.
Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto you. Amen.
Approved by the Executive Council in 1981 for use in the
United Church of Christ in connection with the 25th
anniversary.
